Pa House Bill #417: Described as, "get tough on crime, BS", & a loose cannon!	I have read it
and can find no need for it, but see how a gun owner could get, "railroaded", all the way to a
five year prison sentence, and for the same offense, a non gun owner could get roughly a $120 fine!

This could be twisted to easily!

THE HOUSE HAS ALL READY PASSED THIS! CALL YOUR SENATOR!

MY COMMENTS ON HB# 417 By Roy Pittman

There are enough drug and gun laws on the books to put any bad guy away for a long,
long time if the cops, judge, and DA would just do their jobs.
Why would we want to set back and let something be passed that could end up getting
a gun owner a minimum 5 years if a pot seed was found in his house, and a non-gun owner would
probably get a slap on the hand and 3 months probation plus costs.
If a drug dealer is caught in the act with a gun, he's probably looking at 30 years
plus if they throw the book at him, with current laws. What the hell will 5 more years change?
I believe a mandatory sentence law takes a lot of needed power away from the judges and disalows
them and a parol board the options they need to do their jobs properly.
I have to think this is something we should weigh in on and say no to. It is a step
in the wrong direction and would lead to application to much lessor infractions of the law.
Don't forget, this is comming from the people that said we would never get pulled over for not
wearing a seat belt about 4 years ago! Now they are setting up road blocks "to see if we have our
seat belts on", and ticketing us for anything else they can find. No we don't NEED or want any
more gun laws, period!

Picture this: A hunting camp with the usual quota of beer, poker games, guns, and guys
letting their hair down. The game protectors / State Police(whatever), decide to check them out
and find a joint there someplace. Hot damn, everyone is subject to the 5 year bum's rush.
If on the other hand, they were archery hunters, someone has to prove who's pot it is, and that
one person has to pay the $120 fine. Do you see any JUSTICE there? "The time ain't tied to
no crime!" Just having a gun in a non violent setting and being with someone that gets popped
for anything under the "Controled Substance Act" (rolling papers or a pipe), should not qualify
either person for any extra prison time, but HB 417 would mandate both people to 5 years mandatory
each. This is a bad proposal. It has all trappings of the anti-gun crowd, with a cheap anti-drug
"decoy wrapper." Count us as strongly against this. Let me know what we can do to help.
