HERE IS WHY GUN OWNERS SUPPORT CONGRESSMAN JOHN PETERSON March 21, 2001 response to PGOA requests, From Rep. Peterson Thank you for contacting me to share your opposition to gun control legislation. I appreciate hearing from you and having the benefit of your views. Like you, I am alarmed by the continuing erosion of our Second Amendment rights. While I am concerned about America's violent crime epidemic, I simply do not believe that the answer is to restrict the rights of law-abiding citizens. Unfortunately, most of the gun control legislation introduced in Congress strips honest gun owners of their constitutional rights, while doing nothing to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous criminals. It may interest you to know that I cosponsored four major pieces of legislation in the 106th Congress designed to expand the freedom of gun owners: the Citizen's Self-Defense Act, which ensures our rights to protect ourselves and our families; the National Right to Carry Reciprocity Bill, which expands our right to carry freedom nationwide; the States' Rights and Second and Tenth Amendment Restoration Act which repeals the Lautenberg gun ban; and the Second Amendment Protection Act, sponsored by Representative Ron Paul, which will repeal the Brady registration law. As long as I am a Member of Congress, you can be sure that I will continue to support this kind of legislation and resist the many efforts to infringe upon our constitutional right to bear arms. As I do, you can be sure that I will keep your support in mind. Again, it was good to hear from you. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know. Sincerely, John E. Peterson Member of Congress (FROM PGOA) Those who live in this Congressman's district should tell their friends what an outstanding job John Peterson is doing. Call his office and let him know he has your support, and not to worry about losing it over any twisted media spin amid at him for standing up to the anti-rights people. It's a war for our rights! "Give'm hell John!" If you don't live in his district, call your U.S. Rep. Ask them where they came down on these same legislative proposals. You will find many are standing idly by on the sideline, HIDING there hopping no one will notice. Charge them up, let them know that won't cut it anymore! If they set on the fence instead of coming down strong and loud for your rights, next election you get better representation, period. No excuses, and no more chances. They get in the fray, or out of our way! Now is their time to make it or break it. If they stand up for us, they can count on us standing up for them. PGOA President, Roy Pittman "IT IS AN ONGOING COLD WAR! A war for our rights, our Constitution, our freedom, and like all wars in the past, this one will also decide the future of our nation. We and hundreds of other organizations have tried ALL ROADS; patients, reasoning, tolerance, and compromise. Years of nibbling away at our rights have left us at this dismal point in our history. It's time to call a spade, a spade, and get this nation back on track! A good many Citizens are preparing to stand up and bear arms if needed, to defend or rights and nation. No one can be content to set back and allow the powers from outside or within , to kill the freedoms, heritage, and futures of all U.S. Citizens. I am not a militia recruiter, activist, nor even a member. I respect those who choose to prepare to survive the potential armed conflict the Congress continues to promulgate and support. The Representatives, Senators, and other government officials, (both State and Federal), that have failed to uphold their oath of office are the main problems. It is their jobs to defend our Constitution and Rights. So many of them have failed for so long, that in some misguided areas they are considered "normal or average". We must learn to pull together. No one can shirk their duty to this country and expect to remain free. Everyone must make an honest effort to learn the truth, educate the unknowing, support our rights at every opportunity, and severely reprimand those that deny our rights and / or break their oath.
